“Painful” doesn’t mean that you feel painful when sitting in this chair. Instead, “Painful” refers to the pain of this traditional "Ming" chair, which feels really painful because of hammered 800 wood nails. So, it's about "cultural pain".
my thoughts, I still chose to complete as per the original plan. Fortunately, I encountered no errors during the process of fabrication, and I was glad to have the theme of “pain of culture” represent this simplified and exquisite chair of the Ming dynasty – being penetrated by 800 wooden needles, it really feels painful.
I hope the people who see it can also feel the pain. It can arouse people’s attention to traditional culture and workmanship of each country and culture in the world.
